    • Jones was not present for the...

Jones was not present for the Falcons' first OTA session Monday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Jones assured earlier this offseason that he will be present for mandatory minicamp in June, but chose to abstain from voluntary workouts Monday while awaiting a contract extension from the team. General manager Thomas Dimitroff has been persistent that there is no cause for alarm, stating that both sides "are having really good conversations," and "there's no time frame on (the extension). But, the sooner (it can get done) the better." Jones has been dominant in amassing 1,400 receiving yards for five consecutive seasons, and stands to become the highest-paid player at his position so long as negotiations stay on the track that they are on. The six-time Pro Bowler currently plays under a deal that's worth $14.25 million in annual salary (11th at the position), but he's looking for a multi-year contract offering somewhere in the neighborhood of what recently-signed Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown are making at $17-to-$18 million per year.

Croom's teammate Tyler Kroft broke his foot during Monday's OTA session and will be sidelined for 3-to-4 months following surgery.

Analysis: Croom actually entered the offseason as the Bills' top tight end, though you could also say he was the only tight end under contract. Then the Bills beefed up their corps by signing Kroft and Lee Smith in free agency, while drafting Dawson Knox in the third round. That may have bumped Croom -- who finished 2018 with a 22/259/1 line -- all the way to fourth, though with Kroft's injury being a significant one he'll have extra chances to stake his claim toward meaningful playing time, or at the very least a roster spot.

    • Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that...

Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Carson "had a little work done" on his knee, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Analysis: Carroll didn't elaborate on the aforementioned "work," but he expects Carson to return to the field in a few weeks. While he focuses on rehab and recovery, his backfield mates will get some high-profile reps during OTAs. Among the most interesting is 2018 first-round pick Rashaad Penny, who managed 494 yards from scrimmage and two TDs on 94 touches working behind Carson and current Bear Mike Davis. Meanwhile, the depth chart is rounded out by J.D. McKissic, C.J. Prosise (abdomen) and 2019 sixth-rounder Travis Homer.

    • Wagner will not participate in OTAs...

Wagner will not participate in OTAs until he receives a contract extension, Liz Matthews of USA Today reports.

Analysis: 2019 will be the final year on Wagner's current four-year deal, and the 28-year-old has previously said he's "preparing like this is my last year as a Seahawk." Seattle has cap space after trading Frank Clark -- even after giving a record-breaking deal to quarterback Russell Wilson -- and Wagner hopes to get an extension that beats fellow inside linebacker C.J. Mosley's haul of a five-year, $85 million deal. Wagner has said that he will still be present at Seattle's OTAs and that he will still lead the defense and coach up the young players from the sidelines, he just won't participate himself.

Horton signed an undisclosed contract with the Saints on Tuesday, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Analysis: The 29-year-old signs from Carolina, where he made 24 tackles (15 solo) and 1.5 sacks in 16 games last season. Horton will add to a ferocious pass rush that already includes Marcus Davenport and Cameron Jordan. To make room for Horton, the team decided to waive Darrell Williams.
